2008 Fringe

August 1st, 2008 (03:56 am)
sleepy

current mood: sleepy

So...that went well.

For those who don't know, it's been major shake-ups for me lately.  Lots of serious stuff, but also some really fun stuff.  For example, I have a solo show in the Minnesota Fringe.  It's called "As If In Relief," and it's at the Rarig Center Thrust stage.   For showtimes and stuff, check this:
http://www.fringefestival.org/2008/show/?id=832

I'm really just posting to holla' at Scot for mentioning me in his blog, and for sending Mr. Kidder my way.  Check out these "previews":

Scot says he's not going to review my show, which I totally respect since we're friends and...it would be awkward if he thought I was terrible.  So I gotta say thanks for the friendly, friendly mention.

That's all I got.  It's 4am.  Happy Fringe.

Jane Austen’s timeless classic, Sense and Sensibility, plays April 4-26 at the Black Forest Inn,Minneapolis.

At the dawn of the Regency, two sisters, Elinor and Marianne, are thrust into poverty by their brother’s scheming and manipulative wife.  Reduced to living with their mother in a tiny cottage, their prospects for marriage nearly ruined, the sisters are nevertheless courted by three dynamic men, each with a dark secret.  Every bit as appealing as it was in 1811, Sense and Sensibility is filled with romance, witty banter and heartbreaking tenderness.

Sense and Sensibility, produced by Cromulent Shakespeare Co., and directed by Bethany Ford, plays at the Black Forest Inn April 4-26. Featuring the talents of Lisa Bol, Jeff Broitman, Erin CN Busby, Mimi Holland, Eric Kaiser Johnson, A. Michael Kuehn, Sarah LV Martin, Scot Moore, Mykel Pennington, Ariel Pinkerton, Ben Tallen, Andrew Troska, Josh Vogen, and Richard Yates.  Bethany Ford is a local actor, director, and board member for Cromulent Shakespeare Co.

When:  April 4, 5, 11, 12, 14*, 18, 19, 24, 25, 26. 8:00 PM. *Pay-What-You-Can April 14.

Help me LJ, you're my only hope

Alright LJ…I need your help.

I’ve got my headphones on all day at work.  I’ve torn through nearly all of my music collection, I’ve got a selection of podcasts and they are wonderful…but to create the ideal mental space for repetitive and detailed work, I constantly listen to Dead Can Dance.  I love Dead Can Dance, they’re one of my favorite bands ever…but they only have so much music.

Does anyone out there know of bands that are *similar* to Dead Can Dance?  The resonant chanting vocals and the drumbeat are what are really important to me.  I’ve got a surprising amount of free capital right now, and I’m looking to really expand my music collection.

happy new drunk post

January 1st, 2008 (01:33 am)

I do not...I think I forgot. I had some excellent friends. Justin kept feeding me wine, and then there was no wine, and then there were gold word I can't spell shots, and then champagne. Dick Clark had a stroke, which I didn't know. Then there was Spiderman III (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! teh suck) and a new H Def TV and Josh was like "um...we should go" so we did. With the drinking. Kitty is playing with a paper bag. THere were friends and Varsity Theater, but we never heard from them. So we the Apples to Apples instead, which was excellent fun until 11:50 when my cell told me to turn on the TV to Dick Clark (who had a stroke...I think I already said that) and the dropped ball. It was a "green ball" even thought it was blue because of the energy saving...I assume. Looks like LED. I don't know if that's true, I can only assume. Josh is playing guitar. No one else liked wine, so I drank the whole bottle over Apples to Apples and then Gold german drink and than champagne HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

I should go to bed now.

Lindsay Jane -- The Last Walk, live

December 21st, 2007 (10:57 pm)

My very favorite girl.

Her solo show at Winnipeg -- first thing in the morning on the very last day -- was almost empty. I was already madly in love with her, so all I could think was what a shame it was that ten thousand people had no idea what they were missing.

Here I was, getting all down on myself. But in the words of...my mother, "See, it took two whole auditions. You're a complete failure."

I've just been cast as Mrs. Dashwood in Cromulent Shakespeare Company's production of Sense & Sensibility.

<ahem>  Whoot.  =-D
